Hunkering Down during Ike

We really started to feel and hear the winds around 10:30 pm on Friday evening (9/12/08) and lost power at 12:42 am according the clock in the kitchen. Heather and Elissa fell asleep and Heather was awoken at 3:30 by the howling of the wind. We decided that we should move from our room to the closet until the worst passed. Elissa slept through the whole thing, waking up around 7 or 8 am. When she woke up she couldnt understand why she could watch Sprout on tv. We were very fortunate that we did so well... only a few downed tree limbs and a panel on our fence (which needed to be replaced anyway)!

We stayed at our house Saturday evening and were able to entertain Elissa with Finding Nemo on Heather's lap top. Bedtime came early, but Sunday morning we decided power and A/C was the best for Elissa and we moved to Heather's mom's house. Mom only was out of power for about 24 hours... we were inconvenienced by only 5 days without power at the house... which is great considering that many of our friends and family members are still without power as of 9/27, which is 15 days after Ike.
