Sharing with Sean

Elissa is learning the hard chore of sharing. She is realizing that she is no longer the only grandchild. Sean was very happy playing with Elissa's car... Elissa wasn't so happy!

Children's Museum of Houston

This year Heather volunteered for the Membership Committee for the Children's Museum of Houston.

For those of unfamiliar with CMH:

  • Rated as the No. 1 children's museum in the country by a MSN.com survey of youth museums and serving more than 750,000 people annually

  • The Children's Museum of Houston is the highest-attended youth museum in the country for its size and is dedicated to transforming communities through innovative, child-centered learning

  • The Museum offers 14 galleries of hands-on exhibits and innovative outreach programming for kids ages birth to 12 years.

  • The Museum broke ground on August 27, 2007 for a new Museum wing. They will be expanding their building and anticipate completion by March 2009. The expansion will result in doubling the Museum’s size to a total of 83,000 square feet.

  • For any of you with children, the benefits are great. The exhibits are lots of fun including the “Farm to Market”, “How does it Work” and this spring (March 8th) marks the arrival of the “Magic School Bus” Exhibit plus many more!

Elissa and Sean had a great time playing with Nana, Barbara, Dave and Nick while Heather worked at selling memberships. Sean went straight for the gadgets and Elissa had a great time dressing for the weather!

Happy 40th Clinton!

It was a big day in the Von-Heider house... Clinton turned 40! We all celebrated with BBQ and yummy chocolate cake at Kevin and Denise's house. As always, Carol was a wonderful hostess! The kids had a great time running and playing in the backyard.

This is Elissa's 2nd day in big girl pants... Not to mention, she napped in her big girl bed too! We are making progress!

Parade Day!

It was another early morning for Heather... this is her 8th year on the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Parade Committee. It was a great day for a parade, first time in many years that it didn't rain! Elissa enjoyed watching the parade on TV with Nick... unfortunately midway through the parade after watching some of the bands march by she remembered that she too had a drum. Needless to say for the rest of the parade Nick listened to Elissa play the drum and sing her ABCs.

After the parade, the committee always enjoys sharing stories about BBQ cook-off antics, pizza and cold beer at Birraporetti's Downtown.
